    CSS: Two Column Questions Footer, Menu Length

    I have the following CSS:

    <html>
    <head>
    <title>untitled</title>
    <style type="text/css">

    #container {
    position: relative;
    top: 40px;
    }

    #leftmenu {
    position: relative;
    width: 125px;
    padding: 20px;
    background-color: #eee;
    border: 1px dashed #999;
    line-height: auto;
    }

    #mainbody {
    position: absolute;
    top: 0px;
    margin: 0px 0px 0px 150px;
    padding: 0px;
    }

    </style>
    </head>
    <body>
    <div id="container">
    <div id="leftmenu"></div>
    <div id="mainbody">
    blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah<br>
    blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah<br>
    blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
    </div>
    </div>
    </body>
    </html>

    (Thanks to adios over at devshed Forums)

    I have two questions though:

    I. How can I put a footer below the container and have its position remain static. (Without the menu hovering over it as it does in this case.)

    II. How can I keep the menu that same height as the body.

    Thanks,

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    1. don't use the style rule:

    Code:
    top: 40px;
    instead, add a margin-top style rule to the body selector and give it the same value (40px).

    about the second question, i'm interested to know how that can be done as well hehehe

    Thanks for the reply.

    However I am still running into the same problem.

    It can be seen here http://www.horchemsystems.com/_index.php

    I can't get that content part to remain static so it will adjust the footer down. If I change the mainbody to relevant it, of course, shows up below the menu.

    Thanks again,

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
