    DIV border background and some bad renders later..

    Hi all,

    Code:
    div {  background-color: #0000FF; border: 1px #FF0000 solid}
    3 or so px space between the border and the background in NN4.

    Anyone got a fix please??

    Thanks,
    Douglas

    Hmmmm ... this isn't a fix (and there may not be one) but IMHO you should ask yourself "is that part of the site still READABLE in NN4" even though it doesn't look exactly how you wanted it. If the answer's "yes" then I wouldn't lose sleep over it. That less than 1% of your visitors that are likely to be using NN4 can still use the site effectively so it doesn't really matter.

    Yes, I know it doesn't have to be *perfect*.. but for the site I'm working on, according to his stats from last year, 10% are on NN4, which is around 25 people per day..

    So I would rather it was working

    It is interesting how many different stats sites are turning up for NN4 in use as a browser. It would be worth doing some kind of poll to see if certain kinds of sites attract more NN4 users than others. Maybe it's geographical even ... ? It's just odd that it fluctuates so much. From 10% to less than 1% is a pretty wide sweep!

    The site for accessability products, for old people, wheelchair access, also has goverment connections so he gets visitors from that (making buildings accessable to disabled etc) so its quite an "old" age range... hence the old browsers I acctually wondered how those stats were spread accross the year too (NN6 is quite new still..)

    This part of the desing is fudgeable with nesled tables.. but not decided yet Probably go for a "bad" display in NN...

    Just a side point. But the site as it stands uses absolute pixel sizes for text which over-rides the option for a user to make the copy bigger if they're partially sighted. Since this site is about accessibility, stuff like that should be carefully thought about if you want to make it a flagship site. Use percentage values in the redesign or your client won't be practising what they preach!

    Just a quick point.

    Strange, I acctually have him a CSS file as a quick fix before my design is finished.. seems he replaced it with the old one again.. It shouldn't be more than a week before its updated with the new design (To comply with all the acessability standards, it currently fails all of them, which is one of the reasons I'm makeing a new one for him )

    He also can't update the site himself easily, lots of things... but that's not what this thread is about
