HTML Email - Removing Hotmail grey image placeholders
Is there anyway of removing the http://gfx2.hotmail.com/mail/w4/pr04/ltr/i_safe.gif image paceholder that hotmail uses when asking you whether or not to display the images used in the email?

I believe that it's an image replacement already styled by Hotmail, so I doubt there would be a way of doing that. I could be wrong though.
One way of avoiding this is giving a link to a live HTML version of that email which the user could view in their browser if it isn't displayed properly (most newsletters I receive by large companies use this). I'd also recommend a text-based email for those who aren't willing to allow the images.
Ultimately you leave the choice to the reader - either they choose to display it correctly, or they see the page displayed incorrectly.Jake Arkinstall
