How about : W3Schools Online Web Tutorials

You don't need JavaScript to do PHP..... but you might need to start with the basics of what HTML is and how it relates to PHP and JavaScript:

    In a nutshell:

PHP - runs on a server, generates HTML
JavaScript - runs in the web browser, it is delivered along with the HTML

    Hope that makes sense :-)

For details on how bad their advice on JavaScript is, see the JavaScript section of W3Fools

A much better resource for learning JavaScript is at the Eloquent JavaScript site, and for advanced learning, there's the JavaScript Garden

Yes, definitely steer clear of W3Schools - they teach JavaScript for the 20th Century and modern JavaScript is a lot more powerful and should be written in a very different way. If you learn the W3Schools way then you will have to unlearn a lot of it in order to be able to learn how to write JavaScript properly.

I haven't looked at the site Paul recommended but if it is similar to the book of the same name then it should be a good one.

I don't like spending too much time looking at web sites that try to teach JavaScript as I actually write pages for the about.com site that does that (see red link in my sig) and don't want anyone accusing me of copying from those other sites.

I can confirm that the book and the web site content are one and the same.

If your a visual learner, instead of a dead-tree reader, you might want to try www.lynda.com - Do not work for them or an affiliate.

    Good Luck
