Question which MySQL to use for Slackware Linux?

I am not sure which version of MySQL to download if I am using Linux. My choices on the mysql.com site are :

    Binary packages (tar.gz)

    MySQL 3.23.52 Linux (Alpha)
    MySQL 3.23.52 Linux (IA64)
    MySQL 3.23.52 Linux (Sparc)
    MySQL 3.23.52 Linux (S/390)

How do I know which one will work, and what is the difference between them?

    Get this one:

    Linux (Intel libc6 systems) (9.1M)

The different versions are for different CPUs, you most likely have a x86 CPU, which is what that version of MySQL is for.

For future reference, when you download binaries, if they offer different binary for differnt CPU, get the one that has i386, i586 or i686 in the filename
