i've used Miva Merchant. Built a store at this URL http://www.blueridgewireless.com/merchant/merchant.mv

Also VServer's (http://www.vservers.com) currently does hosting with Miva Support.

It's a good solid program with a lot og functionality and if you learn the code you can have some real fun with it....

Thanks for the url, but it isn't working

What advantages do you see with miva merchant as apposed to others?

How exactly does this software work? do you pretty much design what you want and put links that interface with the program or what?

Miva is the advantage that Miva Merchant has over others. Miva used to be called HTMLscript and is full featured scripting language like javascript, PHP or vbscript. You can do anything you want with it.

Pair.com also offers accounts with Miva Merchant functionality.

Considering all your scripting has to be converted to HTML for a browser to see it you should be able to do anything you with the look if you put your mind to it.

I've tried using other "cookie-cutter" shopping carts that just ask you to input items/configs and * poof! * a shopping cart is spit out the other end. These carts are the easiest to setup, but lack asthetics.
From my simple research, miva appears to pretty much be the backend programming and all I have to do is setup the products on the server. Then create my pages and include different links to the products already configured, right? Could you please explain, in reasonable detail what the process is and how lengthy/problematic it can be. I'm planning on starting off with 50 products and moving to 75 soon thereafter.

    thanks!

I haven't researched Miva or their products too much. I only know what I have read in Trade magazines which isn't much.

Go to: http://www.miva.com/docs/ for the full documentation if you want to look into it further.
