Value of link from certain PR values

I have a question. Say you were the only link on a page. How many PR 6 sites would have to link to you to equal that of a PR 7 site?

Good question... and one that raises an important issue.

IF you have a page with a PageRank of 6, and you link from this page to another page, and that link is the only link on the page, then the linked-to page will also have a PageRank of 6.

If you only have 1 link per page then the only thing diluting PageRank is the dampening factor, which is relatively small.

In this way, you could potentially turn a single 6 PR page into say six 6 PR pages.

This is what I'm doing at my coupon site. There is only 1 anchor link on each page, passing the pagerank on to the next.

    impressive, yes, most impressive....

This is like my poker question-
I'll trade you 3 pages with a PR of 2 for your one page with a PR of 6...

Unfortnately I can't do that unless I use javascript links but I consider this cheating link partners. I have made lots of sitewide link exchanges with sites like www.freebieland.net and www.realfreesite.com in the last month. I few of those should help my PR next update.

But my question still remains unanswered, how many PR 6 sites equal a PR 7 site?

without doing experimentation its impossible to know for sure. All we know of the PR numbers is that they are exponential, and that the amount needed for each "level" is likely changed occasionally.

Also, even if you could experiment to find out, it wouldn't be that scientific since you don't know if you're getting links from a high 6 or a low 6.

Hrmm, I wonder if anyone would sell links on their site if they have a high rank. Anyone think they would?

I would to an on topic source. Its just advertising with a different motive. I wouldn't serve links to an off topic source though and that could potentially upset search engines.
