    Yeah, I'd seen those...

    The arguments still hinge on whether a scrollbar is part of the browser GUI or part of the page.

    The page argument has a bit more weight with me because I'd class it as the same 'type' of element as a form button, all of which can be freely styled, no matter how destructive the end result may be to usability/accessibility.

    If the argument against scrollbars being controlled by css is one of changing users preferences then it should clearly apply to other on-page interface widgets as well, no??

    I'd still say that 'giving' web designers/developers css'd scrollbars is far better all round than having them generate their own using dhtml...

    I agree with you 100% on that point - DHTML scroll bars are a usability and accessibility nightmare
