Hello ,
I would like to know which hardware (servers) are recommended for a big portal that is expecting to have 5 million page views per month. I was suggested IBM netfinity but I am not sure this one will be able to support well this portal. Another option is IBM RS/600. I also have to balance performance and price. Can you give me some suggestion?
Something that can be expand easily, there is no point starting out with the biggest server ever only to find out that the site does not do as well as you hoped. You might as well set up a server that has plenty of room for future expansion (Read: memory and disk space).

Hi Matt, what type of server are you using with Webmaster-Resources.com ?
I am thinking of a Cobalt Raq2/Raq3i server with DigitalNation since I am lacking in the admin skills - do you have any experience or comment on theses ?
We're on a Linux PII 450 MhZ server with 256MB of RAM and Red Hat 5.2 . The Cobalt RAQ's are easier to administer, but you still need a bit of Linux knowledge. I believe DigitalNATION charges $125 per hour for SysAdmin duties.
