    Another Google question

    Hi

I know that Google also runs www2 and www3 servers. I have a site that promotes services to the UK only. You can access Google UK at www.google.co.uk (surprisingly ) but there is no www2 or www3.google.co.uk. Does anyone know if there is somewhere that is the equivalent of this for me to see what's happening with the updates?

    TIA
    David

Very good question, i would like to know the answer to that!

But think that there probably wont be one as .co.uk is no where near as important as the .com index

I think the uk index spiders you if the .com index does. I see traffic from alot of google servers actually, none come close to the amount by the .com index though.

Well, I think the regional filtering is an automatic process - it doesn't get updated, so they don't need to see if it works, so they don't need www3....co.uk .
That's my opinion on it anyway.

The regional filtering is an automatic process: there is just 1 spider that works for the .com
the result on google.co.uk are a subpart of the main google index, filtered by IP and by top level.

I can see @ www2google.com the filter for Italian sites: you should be able (if u R in UK) to see the UK filter...

    thanks for the replies.

I can't see a uk filter on www2google.com (is it just on the hompe page if you are in Italy??). I think it is probably right that the results are filtered from google.com and therefore there is no index as such. Just have to see what happens when it shakes down...

OK I have found a cunning answer to anyone interested (sadly I can't take the credit because it wasn't my idea)

Do a UK search on google.co.uk and then alter the search to run on www2 or www3.google.com

    For example search term weather:

    http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...UK%7CcountryGB

    and alter to

    http://www2.google.com/search?hl=en&...UK%7CcountryGB

    gives a UK only preview...

Thanks Grimble if you read this...
