    Show off your guitars...

It seems there are a zillion guitarists on SP, so I thought we could showcase kit.

I have a Fender Strat plus deluxe (90's), Floyd Rose & Lace Sensor. A 1972 Tele (which I adore equally). A very dodgy gibson accoustic and an even dodgier spanish accoustic (bought in Spain).

I would desperately love a decent amp. Had a limited edition Marshall combo but it was stolen from my car (serves me right for leaving it in there really...).

As far as effects go, I have a Vox wah (swear by 'em having used cry-babies for years), a couple of "grungy" boss things and a not so impressive Zoom 2020 .

Any UK SP'ers fancy a jam?

I did have some piccies of my guitars up on teh web, but I can't remember where, and I don't have the camera to take any more atm.

Anyway, I have an Aria Pro-II Semi-acoustic from 1982 in Dark natural wood. I also have A Yamaha DW8-VRS acoustic, a Washburn MG-44 electric, and 2 classical nylons. My amp is a Laney VC-30 1x12" vintage valve combo.

I play rhythm guitar and sing in a blues band.

Here's a dodgy recording of Black Magic Woman with 3 men, a drum machine and a mic (). Oh, and me with the flu. *sniff* *sniff*

Not bad at all Mincer - Why is BMW such a perennial favourite? Used to do it with three former groups!

Here's my acoustic-electric, only mine is several years old. Same model, different year. I'm looking at trading in for a Taylor in the next year.

I have an Ibanez RG in Cosmic Blue with DiMarzio pickups (ToneZone in the bridge and a PAF Pro in the neck, plus a single coil in the center) and a Floyd Rose trem, hooked into a Marshall AVT 100 combo.

Hmmm - found this thread by accident while searching for another one, and it's WAY out of date, but could be resurrected!

    So...

    Epiphone EJ200 (Epiphone's J200 copy) *
    Yamaha APX-4A
    Epiphone ES-335 Dot *
    Fender Jazzmaster Reissue
    Washburn AB-10 (acoustic bass) *
    Vintage "Jazz Bass" copy
... and a few other guitars that are basically firewood, but looked so cool that I bought them for peanuts to hang on the wall. They work - just not very well!

    * = favs!

I've reviewed all but the firewood here.

Weeeellll, my collection has changed a little since the last posting.....

1 Fender Strat plus deluxe (as above, recently set up by a good friend and guitar anorak)
2 72 Tele. Man the neck needs some tlc
3 1952 (or therabouts) Tele reissue. Same design and materials...released early 90's. No wax on coils..Bluesy as hell!
4 Crafter semi accoustic (sweet sounding)
5 "Playmate" (ooeer) semi-accoustic. Decent for a battered travelling type
6 Spanish nylon destroyed by drunk friend. New cheapo nylon replacement
7 Same ole Gibson steel string
    8 "Givson" - cheap indian copy semi-accoustic
    9 Martin "Backpacker" travel guitar

....now I just need to learn how to play...

    I am a bass player
Personally I dont care what model it is, I just know that it's an ibanez, cost $140 used, and plays beautiful
Now I just have to find a drummer, the ratio of guitarists:bassists/drummers is like 30:1, honestly.

I would say yes. The electric is easier to play in terms of "speed licks" and the like, but actually quite hard to control with finesse. Accoustic can be more forgiving, I would suggest nylon string to start with as well (which when played well is one of my favourite sounds) as many people are put off early by sore fingers...they aren't so bad on nylon.
