free webcam software

hello - i want to embed some streaming video off a webcam on my home pc. I have apache installed and have something like a static IP (a dns to go account). I was wondering if there was any free or low cost software that would allow me to host the video stream. Most of the packages I found either host the stream off a remote server or just put the image in whatever directory is umplied by localhost - can's get to it outside my home network. Any suggestions? thanks
