I am wondering if there are any places that allow SMTP outgoing mail feature using my own domain ... such as me@mydomain.com
This way, I can use any e-mail clients such as Eudora or Outlook to retrieve and send e-mails.
Thank you.

every ISP offers smtp to send mail.
If you want it on your domain go to http://www.bn3.com
But they will also take over your POP3 accounts..

Errrr, yes maybe every ISP does offer SMTP to send mail, but not every ISP will let you send mail from joe@bloggs.com if your ISP mail account is joe@blogss.isp.com as it is a major loophole for spammers.
Not a lot of web hosts provide SMTP either even though they could if they used POP AUTH before SMTP on their mail setups.
If you talk to Annette http://www.hostmatters.com then I think that they offer SMTP for their clients to use with their web hosting plans.

My ISP (AOL -- ICK!) doesn't offer it. SO for now I use a accoutn with crosswinds.net and use there SMTP. They have it so anyone can use it.
My last host though had POP AUTH before SMTP so they offered it. And my new host, ThinkHost, is going to offer that soon. I cant wait! (read: hurry up thinkhost =)

It has nothing to do with that... If you have blabla as host you can use their ISP to send email from blabla@yahoo.com. Only the mails will come in your Yahoo account.

No all the time, not many ISPs (At least in the UK) will let you use their SMTP relay to send email that is not from an authenticated account on their server e.g. I have an ISP account with FreeServe in the UK, they will not let me use their SMTP server (smtp.freeserve.net) to send email that does not originate from my account (SOME-ADDRESS @ktech.freeserve.co.uk) as it would allow me to spoof other email addresses and would also open them up to spam.

My ISP requires that you be logged into the account through their dialup and that all outgoing emails have their domain in the sender's address whether you use your email program or their web interface.
My hosting provider provides me with both POP3 and SMTP email access through their web interface or through my own email program.
Ask you ISP and hosting provider what the limits are. Most ISP's do not allow you to send through their accounts anymore. To many have been sued for propogating spam.

I've never had ISPs which restricted the access to their SMTP servers. But you have to dial in to their server... I have used free ones as well as paid ones...
