Why the change? Is it worth losing the post count?

I did not even know about that. Well, only 115 posts anyway. Wow, I didn't know that I have been a member for about a year now.

hmmm. Maybe when SP changes over to VBulletin, you can have your old name changed so you can keep your post number even if it's only 115... That's still alot to some people.

There is no benefit to having a high post count if your posts are not meaningful and helpful. Everyone could have 10,000 posts that say "Yeah that's right". We would rather have a bunch of users with an average of 200 posts each with good detailed information so everyone can learn.

Luke is right. It is really annoying if you just have people posting things like
    NOPE
    YEP
    Get OUT OFF HERE
    etc

    You get the message.

I have over 400 posts and I reckon I could have had a lot more but I don't post for the sake of posting, only when I feel I have somethign to say.

I think the others are just saying some people go way overboard to get a high post count... They post little ONE or TWO word phrases in order to get a post... So that shouldn't really count. I don't think it's really a big deal with the post counts, but some people think it is...

I think Chris places a *bit* too much value on the post count.

Seriously though, I think that valuable posts USUALLY come from people that have high post counts, chris included. Most of the time, people with post counts over 1000 95% of those posts have been useful, because these are people who are actually devoted to the community.

    btw that was post 150
