.cdr - .ai - need to open - how?

    Hi all

I have a problem.. One of our customers have brought a cd in which he said there are the images.

there are ones with .cdr and .ai extensions..

I know (if not wrong) .cdr is CorelDraw and do not have any idea about what .ai is..

What I want to learn is, is there any utility that opens these pictures, and I can take a screen shot (worst case) of the pictures and edit them..

    Any idea?

.ai is Adobe Illustrator -- Flash will probably open these if you don't have Illustrator. Freehand might too.

.cdr files are indeed CorelDraw, and I think you're stuffed if you don't have it! Sorry .... give your client a slap from me! It's a Mikey Mouse format!!

    tyrael

If the viewer doesn't work just email me the files and I will save them in a format you can view (as long as there's not 100's )

And Greg - don't you be dissin' CorelDraw . I've been using it over 10 years now to produce artwork for print and web. It's feature packed and cheaper than Freehand or Ill.

    That's a great favor sowen!

Thank you very much for the support! I will try to accomplish it by myself, time is the least we all have and I just don't want to take much time of any of you..

If I can't manage to do it, I'll email you.

    Again thanks a lot!

Sorry sowen! I guess I'm spoiled nowadays!

Haven't used Corel since Corel 6 (before I came across Adobe products). Can't use it here though cos no one else in the industry uses it ... kinda throws a spanner in the works!

Corel's not a bad program. In fact, it's got some features that Adobe has copied. It just doesn't have the name power like Adobe.

Most importantly for me, it doesn't have the compatibility with other formats -- as tyrael's problems are nicely highlighting ...... unless they've added more export filters since I last looked at it ............
