    Browsers and image sizes?!?

    Hi all,

I'm having a problem with a site I am working on. The site uses quite a few images as it is a portfolio site. The problem occurs sometimes when a page is loaded sometimes the images don't open out fully, and you have to refresh the page. I think I know why this is happening, because the images will have to be changed at some point in the future by the client, I could include images sizes as these will change as each new image is loaded and would cause the new image to be distorted. I think that this is a problem in some browsers which cannot render the images correctly perhaps due to the missing size information.

You can view the site here: http://62.3.113.178:6002

As the images do seem to appear correctly once you refresh the page, I was think if is possible to preload the images, as this may help to reduce the chance of them loading incorrectly. I am using dreamweaver to create this site, and I know there is a behaviour that allows you to preload images, but I think that this is primarily used for rollover buttons, if I am wrong could someone please let me know, also if I am right is there a way to preload the images, or perhaps another solution to this problem.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help with this.

Sorry guys, just realised that my post makes no sense. What I would like to know is whether some browsers have a problem rendering images which do not have a height and width specified. If so, would preloading the images solve this problem. Finally if so, how do you preload images in dreamweaver without using the rollover funtion, or in straight html.

Thanks to all who can understand and help.

I cant figure out a way to preload images in Dreamweaver, but if you want to go down the DHTML route there are some very good Image pre load scripts at Dynamic drive

I don't think that any browser should have problems rendering images withougt height and width attributes. It would just take longer to render the page as a whole. The link didn't work so I couldn't really have a look. If you do decide to use a preloader, I would use a separate script, not anything that comes with DW.
