    Web site statistics software

Does anyone have a recommendation for web site statistics software that I can download or buy and use on my PC?

I want to download the raw access logs and analyze them in a little more detail than is possible with the online programs (awstats, analog, and webalizer) provided by my host.

Not exactly what you want, but my article here discusses some alternatives to the programs you mention:

Have you looked at www.download.com for a program? Also check out WebTrends... I may be wrong but I seem to remember a standalone program for reviewing raw logs...

Webtrends is GREAT! It is pretty pricey, but it is worth it.

i think webalizer and analog is pretty useless.. at least in terms of referrer and last visitors. In the CPanel I'm using (provided by my web host), it doesn't reveal much, so I programmed my own script, now I can clearly see the referer and the "action path" of the users (what are they doing, what do they enter in the forms, etc). If users are doing something wrong I can see it, you won't believe what nonsense they enter in forms, so I can change the script accordingly.. its really cool..

Would you share your program with us? That sounds really interesting!

its nothing you can install externally on top of an existing website.. i programmed that within the "application framework" i already have.. every page is generated by php which makes it easy to program that "logging function"

We use LiveStats from Deep Metrix and it's very very good. However, it is also very, very pricey. I think the corporate edition is something like $650 ;(

I can recommend you 123LogAnalyzer. Very simple and fast, presents all important statistics.

You can download trial version and it is not so expensive like some other solutions.
