    DIV is not resizing properly in NN7?

    Here's a test page with a problem - http://zvis.com/wrk/knvne.shtml
    It's really simple, I have a div - knrDiv and an image inside of the div, which is a link to a document. For IE it works fine, but for NN there's a problem. I dont' want to hardcode DIV height. IE calculates things ok, however NN has a trouble. If I move the image to the right corner either by applying CSS float:right attribute or using HTML tag align=right NN for some reason ignores the image wduring the DIV height calculation and the result you can see yourself, the image is hanging out of the div.
    If I remove align attribute then it works ok...
    Is there any way to make NN behave properly w/o hardcoding the parent div height?

    CSS file is in the same place, but just in case here's the code:

    knstl.css
    h3 {font-style:italic}
    .knrDiv{width:500px;text-align:left;padding:0;font-size:9pt;background:#777;color:#fff;border:ridge #fff 1px;height:auto;}
    .knrDiv a:link img, .knrDiv a:visited img{padding:0;margin:0;border:solid 1px;}
    .kntitle{background:#555;color:#fff;display:block;padding:3px 0 3px 1em;font-weight:bold;margin:0;}
    .kncont{padding:3px;font-size:8pt;}

    The rest of CSS comes from mainn.css which is shared, but I think that's not relevent here.

    body{margin:25px 0 25px 0;padding:0;font-weight:600;font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial,Helvetica,Geneva;color:#ddc;
    background:#000 url(/images/bgrnd/bck4.jpg) fixed} hr {display:none}
    A:link, A:visited, A:active{color:#ddc} a:link img, a:visited img{border:#ddc solid 1px}
    A:hover{color:#fff;background-color:#777}

    Its like the in Mozilla too. I wonder if the new Mozilla uses the same engine as NN7.

    Mozilla is owned by netscape and is the same as NN6-7, the only difference being that in Netscape you get all the AOL stuff throwen in.

    1.1) What is Mozilla?
    Mozilla is a project to continue Netscape Communicator as an open project. The project is maintained by employees of Netscape (now a division of AOL), RedHat, some other companies, as well as contributors from the community.

    1.5) What is the relation between Mozilla versions and Netscape versions?
    The current arrangement between Netscape (AOL) and the Mozilla project is that Mozilla develops its own releases, and when Netscape (AOL) is preparing to make a release, it takes the current version of Mozilla, makes modifications, and does its own QA. In return for this, Netscape (AOL) contributes developers to work on the project. The Netscape versions may have a different look/feel than Mozilla versions, and also may add proprietary features. The Netscape versions are all branded as Netscape (AOL) products.

    I'm pretty sure it is an independant organisation - a lot of the core developers work for AOL/Netscape but as the FAQ says, a lot of them don't.

    Hey that means the people in irc.mozilla.org #mozilla were right! Good to know.
    The people in there ARE the mozilla developers, by and large, so they really ought to know what's going on.

    The way I see it:
    • mozilla.org is an independent organisation, with a small staff (about 10-12 people) Some have close ties with Netscape/AOL, some don't[1].
    • the Mozilla.org drivers make strategic decisions, and ultimately steer the project. Some work for Netscape/AOL, some work for other companies, some are academics[1].
    • Many of the people writing code work for Netscape/AOL, but many do not. There are several independent coders, IBM have contributed some substantial bits of code, more academics, and others.
    • Netscape/AOL provide substantial infrastructure support, including the main mozilla.org web/ftp/news servers, etc.

    As far as I know, Netscape/AOL are the largest single contributors to the Mozilla project, and do exert a considerable influence, but they are far from being the only contributors, and by no means do they have total control.

    [1]if you dig through www.mozilla.org, you can find lists of who these people are.
