If You LOVE Google Then You'll LOVE This Freeware

    Hello Forum-Mates,

Just wanted to share our latest find with you all.

A Freeware program developed by P. J. Kraaima which he simply and aptly has named ...

    Google Search Tool

Here is what P. J. says about the Google Toolbar ...

"I do Like the Toolbar, I use it myself all the time. It was never my intention to compete with the Google Toolbar. The reason I build this Search Tool was because I did not like it at all that I could only use it with Iexplorer v5 or higher. If you combine this Search Tool with the Google Toolbar you will never miss a search result."
It's a very small (under 300 kb) download that sits on your desktop, not on the address bar of your browser like the Google Toolbar (http://toolbar.google.com/). As long as you're connected to the Net you can call up a search at any time, even when you're working in applications such as Microsoft Word. You don't even need to have your browser open to begin your search, and yes, it works with Netscape and other browsers.

This awesome tool is available in more than 30 languages and runs on any Windows machine. Unfortunately, it's not yet available for Mac or Linux operating systems.

Here is our favorite thing about this tool ...

When searching, you can choose any of the 16 Google extensions to narrow your search. These extensions include ...

    WWW (http://www.google.com/)
    Images (http://images.google.com/)
    News (http://news.google.com/)
    Groups (http://groups.google.com/)
    Uncle (http://www.google.com/unclesam/)
    Linux (http://www.google.com/linux)
    BSD (http://www.google.com/bsd/)
    Microsoft (http://www.google.com/microsoft/)
    Links: (link:www.google.com)
    Related: (related:www.google.com)
    Cache: (cache:www.google.com)
    Info: (info:www.google.com)
    Stocks: (stocks:yhoo)
    Translate (http://translate.google.com/translate_t)
    Answers (http://answers.google.com/)
and Lucky (the first page in the search results)

To use the tool in a different language, right mouse click on the Search Tool and select "Search in this language only." Choose one of the 27 languages. Set the Google result page, messages, and buttons to display in your selected language. We find this to be EXTREMELY useful for various research projects.

Set your page results to 10, 25, 50 or 100. Again, very useful when searching for your site's ranking for specific keywords. We can quickly scan 1000 pages (10 pages of 100 results each) in about 2 minutes. (Using the "Find" feature - Press the "Ctrl" and "F" keys on your keyboard to launch it.)

Selecting the "Use Raw Google mode" lets you see the results with only the titles. Placing your mouse over the title will display the Snippet. (http://www.google.com/ie/)

You can also select the adult site safety, search Google groups between certain dates, search for exact terms, and much more.

Please Note: This software is not a product of Google nor is it related to Google. This application only makes use of some of Google's goodies.

Since we certainly want to do all we can to get the word out about this awesome tool and to help P. J. become even more famous than he already is <VBG>, please feel free to copy in part or all of our review to post in your newsletters or on your Websites.

Is the product affiliated with or supported by Google? Google states that they will ban anybody who is caught sending automated search requests to Google.

I wouldn't want to use it if it uses Google without Google's permission, because it would be my own IP address range that would be banned if I were caught.

With the amount of searches I do, this probably won't be even noticed. However, I can't be too careful.

    Thanks.

Hmmmmm ... Google may frown on this but it's really good!

    http://notesbydave.com/toolbar/doc.htm

Once you figure out how it works you can edit it to search anything you like too. Cos I'm in the UK I've changed CNN to BBC, added www.yell.co.uk, etc.

That is interesting since they released a series of Google API's just for this sort of purpose.

I think that only applies to people using an automated tool to check there sites ranking in Google without visiting the site.

Shame. I would've loved the look on our IT manager's face if Google had barred our IP address cos we were using a piece of s/w he recommended!!

Shouldn't this veiled advertisement be in a different forum?

It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me.

If I'm going to use this toolbar, I'm going to need IE open anyway. So why not just use the Google ToolBar in IE then? This doesn't do anything for me, I don't really see the point. By the way, I doubt it is illegal or dangerous -- look at some of the people who have basically endorsed it -- such as Lockergnome, which is where I first heard about this.

Or use the 'Quick Search' bar that I posted further up this page .... it's really nice and sits on your task bar .... and no -- that's not an ad. I just use it myself and think it's really handy.
