Why do sites on Localhost seem slightly different?

    hello all,

I have often noticed that sites that I develop on my local machine will vary slightly from the same site put on the live server. Some times images and over all layout will seem slightly smaller - and other times it seems like the local version is slightly blurred while the live version is crisp.

Any ideas what might cause this??

    Thanks,

Same browser? Are you sure you aren't zoomed in on that page? If you're using Firefox, CTRL + 0 resets zoom (CMD + 0 on mac).

in a given browser the web page should look the same in both your local and live hosts.

It may depend upon if 'additional items' are added/inserted on the live site as compared to the local such as tracking coding or feeds, etc.

About the only thing with regards to the image blurring would be proxy servers/scripts compressing the images on the fly.
