    pt or px

What is the difference between using pt and px, besides that 10pt is bigger then 10px?
Is there a better choice when concerned with standards?

on Mac 10pt is 10px, however on windows 10pt is more like 11px or 12px, as windows assumes that it is at a 96dpi, where as Mac forces itself to render at 72dpi. meaning that there is variation on the size a pt can take.

10 px, on the otherhand, is allways 10px no matter what dpi your monitor is at.
