    cPanel Email Configurations - I can't get email :(

    Hi,

We just recently got a new dedicated server with cPanel on it and we are having the hardest time getting the email to work in Netscape and Outlook Express. We keep getting a usname and password don't match error.

I got it to work fine in Eudora, but most of our clients don't use that.

I have done exactly what the instructions have said to do. I have tried using the +, @, :, and % sign... all with the same results.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and found the solution? I called the tech guys and no one is around. This has been wasting too much of my day to keep tinkering with it, so I decided to come here and ask the experts...

Any help is greatly appreciated as always...

    Thanks,

    Doug

    Hi Doug.

I am not sure how your server is configured, but generally, in Netscape, you have to replace the "@" with the sign "%" for the email address [Netscape Mail client, older versions].

Seems you already tried that. Have you tried using

    username@domain.com

as the username, instead of just "username"?

Also, in outlook express, try enabling [checking] the option[s] "My Server requires authorization" and "Log on using secure password authentication", or combination of the two. That is the most common problem users report to us, and above is the fix. Cpanel also has an auto-config file for Outlook express; you can download it in your cpanel.

    Hope it works.

    Hi there,

I too am having trouble configuring mail for NS 7.0 b1. So i gave up and used Pegasus Mail instead. But for Outlook it cannot be easier.

Just log into CPANEL via IE and go to the mail admin section and theres a link to autoconfigure outlook. Just click on that and everything will be done for you.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks everybody... it was some configuration problem with our new server. The tech guys straightened it out and it all works perfectly now.

    I appreciate your help...

    Thanks,

    Doug
