problems with search engines and layers

    Hey everybody.
Was just reading about adding a descriptive sentence about a site on a layer that's out of view. For example "Company XSC specializes in spam sculptures" placed in a layer that's placed top: -230; left: -100.
I read that it shouldn't hurt the site if it's only a short description and it's relevant to the content. Anyone have any experience with this, good or bad. Or suggestions?
    TIA
    Jason

Can search engines easily detect this sort of thing? Not really.

Are they working on doing so? You bet.

If you get caught will you get in trouble? Probably.

Is it worth it to risk getting banned permanently on a search engine like Google? I'd say no, but you need to decide this for yourself.

Why not just make that description sentence the first part of your actual content.

thanks for the reply, aspen. my only concern was that when using a search engine simulator, the menu links come up before the text in my site since i'm using tables. (www.emstech2.com)

Thats true for most sites, don't worry about it. Instead concentrate on building link popularity.
