google & dmoz won't index my site!!!

I have been having trouble getting a couple of site listed in Google & dmoz - is there anything wrong in my site code that is stopping them from being indexed?

Its been about 3 months of trying for this one here

and about 1 1/2 months for this one here

Any suggestions? I have lost of other site that got picked up no problem. Don't know what happened with these 2.

    I've tried re-submitting several times.

    Thanks

You could try posting your question at the DMOZ forum http://www.resource-zone.com/postlis...rd=submissions

Once you get into there you will also get into Google.

Splash pages like you have are search engine suicide. Your index page should have content on it.

Splash pages aren't good for any SE ranking. The top search results on almost every search engine will mostly be html or maybe a php page every once in a while. As for dmoz, there could be one of several reasons you aren't getting listed.

    1. The editor is not active
    2. You submitted to the wrong category
    3. The editor does not like your site or has a competing site.

Can I ask you what purpose those splash pages server?

I mean if not for search engine reasons, remove them for usability reasons.

Why would you make someone click more than they have to, to get to what they want?

    They just serve no purpose.

Actually splash is made so web developers can show off flashy work in an attempy to attract clients. Otherwise I just find it annoying.

Exactly, why make visitors jump through hoops?

Neither one has ever been acted upon by any editor. If you've submitted as often as you say, surely there would be at least one action on one of them... but there's not. Very odd. Since you've had success getting ODP to list other sites, maybe these really didn't get submitted?

Saying that a competitor is to blame is just ridiculous.

Funny thing is that I submitted a few other sites within a couple of weeks of the other ones and they got indexed no problem. They also had similar splash pages.

I have never seen anyone say they do like splash pages but I actually do!!! (in some cases). Not to show off flashy graphics but more to slow the visitor down and set the tone for the site. Sort of like a book cover.

I just checked the logs on
    www.gregoryhardy.com
and in July the googlebot is listed:

    2552: 282: Googlebot/2.1 (+http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html)

Hopefully this means the site will start showing up.

Slojo, your site is nice enough no problem with that. But remember Google just likes to eat text in the websites.
The more content it will find (text and not text in jpg's or gif's) the more it will like your site.

And I agree with the splash screen theroy: nice but totally irrelevant for the website visitor... Drop the splash and optimize your content.
