Changing User name

A user on my forum asked if it was possible to change his registerd User Name without re-registering, I went into my PHPMyAdmin and see it is possible to change a users name.

My question is, by doing this am I compromising the integrity of the database? Of course I would not be changing his name to anything that already exists in the database.

Anyone know?

Not if the data in the database is normalized properly (as in his username is not used in multiple tables). Are you using a particular script?

Not quite sure in relation to the script question, Im just using the features provided by my hosting company; www.34sp.com.

What forum software are you using? phpBB2? vBulletin?

phpbb 1.4.4. Working round to moving up to 2.0.1 but since the upgrade from 1.4.4 to 2.0.1 is via 2.0.0, I haven't got to it. Just some needless information
