What is the approximate revenue amount for a joke site?

Assuming it recieves around 500,000 hits per month.

Also, for a humor site the major factor is the number of opt-in subscribers.

For 100,000 subscribers you might get $100-$800 per month. That's a complete guesstimate. There's people that actually have this number of subscribers that could give you a better estimate.

It all depends, as SWD says. If you know something I don't, you may get significantly more. If I know something you don't, you may get significantly less.

PS. I have nowhere near this number of subscribers yet!

With that kind of traffic, I think if you work really hard and try finding people to buy ads and trying and testing different ad networks you can generate about $3000/monthly. I believe it's all about experience and effort when it comes down to it.
