Can anyone help me with making transparent gifs in PhotoShop? I tried deleting the background layer before saving it, but when I bring it up it still has a large, white background area.

    Thanks

In PS 5.5 i do the following.

create a new file with a transparent background.

    build your image.

EXPORT as a gif 89a file.

this should produce the transparent gif.

    Still a little confused.

By making my background transparent, do you mean deleting it and leaving the rest of the layers intact? Also, when I export it wants to select a transparent color, is this supposed to be the same color as an other image's background?

    Thanks

In PS 5.5 under the >Help menu there is a Export Image as Transparent Gif option. This should take you step by step on what you want to do.-DP

when you create a new file you select the size or the amount pixels you want, at the bottom of that window should be a check box
for transparent background. this means that no background is created unless you fill it in. once you have created your image export it as a gif 89a.
