    Developing For Mobile Devices

I won't let it be said that we don't move with the times, so we figured we were well overdue for the introduction of a forum focusing on mobile devices. Although we are historically a web development here at SitePoint, it is inevitable that there will be some crossover into mobile application development, so we have named the new forum Developing For Mobile Devices.

Just remember that as designing websites (rather than applications) for mobile devices makes use of traditional HTML and CSS (with just a few well documented conventions to make things look great) - you're more likely to get a response in the appropriate forum where our HTML and CSS guru's are likely to be hanging out

It came in the right moment. Can I know if the new forum has something to do with the question about what cellphones do we use?

Still to early for me to develop for mobile devices. For me, it's a minimum of 2 more years. Let the war between Apple and Google settle down, and to find out which one is superior to the other. Also, another reason is because HTML5 and CSS3 is still in it's infancy. Don't get cut by the bleeding edge of technology

I was actually making this point earlier to a friend of mine. I also believe it will be a minimum of 2 years before you start seeing a lot of mainstream push towards the mobile element of the web.

Although yes it is here, its almost as if we're back in 1994 developing again as it seems a lot of people have to go back to the drawing board in a lot of senses. The reason I say this is because a large amount of people who are webmasters and developers still do not have a mobile device, but this doesn't mean they are blind and don't see the trend starting and are trying to prepare for it now.

For those using Macs, you may want to take a look at Dashcode. I'm not really sure what Apple plans to do with it in the future but it is a great tool to get you started when developing mobile apps.
