is it possible to have a fireworks document that contains buttons (with rollowver and swap-image effect)AND animation in the same document? or do i need to have the animation separate and import it into say, dreamweaver, in order for it to coexist with otherwise static (but can change with mouseovers) images?

animation uses frames, so do rollovers. rollovers only use the first two frames, rollovers can use an unlimited number of frames, after you flipped throught the first 2 frames your rollover image is gone, therefore its not possible to have both in your document. If this is for a web page you can do other things with animation and rollovers. Ask if you got more questions

thank you so much for confirming that for me! so.......assuming i can convert my fireworks page (non-animated) into a dreamweaver document (i've yet to use dreamweaver) --then hopefully i can import the animation onto the same page (which basically needs to be first made into a flash file to be "smoothed" out?)?

ok, if I understand you correctly, you want to have rollover effects and animations in your HTML document? Then create two separete documents in Fireworks _ one will be your animation and another one will be your rollovers, then export them both (animation as an animated GIF and rollovers as HTML and graphics), go to Dreamweaver and put together a page which contains both of those. You'll have to figure out how to position them on the page, etc, etc....

If this is not very clear please let me know, I'll try to explain better.
