im trying to learn how to make something similar to the logo at the top left of this page. www.thesimsresource.com

I mean, the lovely lighting and 3d effect it gives...any good tutorial out there?

that Phong sites graphics and page layout is nothing short of beautiful!
Can someone tell me how the heck i learn to layout a website like that?!?!?

I mean...do i draw something like that totally out in my graphics program then cut it up into pieces and reassemble it in my HTML tables???
Hell i cant even figure out how to make my rounded corners blend together clean heh

The logo on the page you mentioned was almost certainly created using Photoshop. The 3D effect could be created by repeatedly rendering lighting effects with texture channels on to different layers. The shadow also helps to create the 3D effect, and this is much simpler to create with gaussian blur.

It looks like the banner has been created in one and then sliced, using something like fireworks or Adobe Image ready to create a table.
