    detecting a click

    hello

    can anyone tell me how i detect a mouseup/mousedown within a frame or a layer?

    You can also then give it the Capture for following events using set/releaseCaputre();

    Just for the record, the <layer> tag no longer exists (I think NS4 is the only browser to ever bother with it, it definitely isn't part of the all important standards). onmousedown and onmouseup should work for capturing mouse events though, no matter what you apply to them (at a guess you're talking about <div>s).

    Skunk - while you're here...

    Are there any OO perl or Perl referencing guru's there?

    I'm tempted to try and create a class to solve this problem,
    but i can't see how it would help - to be honest.
    I'm still stuck with the problem that i can't evaluate a reference:
