Starting ruby

I was wondering about learning ruby on rails any suggestions before i commit myself to horus of forced studying any quick tips that could save me time and headaches didnt see a ruby faq stickiy.

Where are you coming from? Are you already a programmer? What made you think of Ruby? Is it Ruby, or just the Rails framework that attracts you?

Answers to those would likely help.

Also, we're trying to update the stickies around here because we do want them to be more up-to-date and useful.

first you need to mention from which background yo belong and whether programming is you passion or not. ruby is a pure object oriented language, so need to be analytically strong.
