Size Site Entry Window to 600x400

I've designed an entrance to a website that measures 600 by 400 pixels. I want to be able to create a page that contains descriptive text (for the search engines) then forwards to the entrance page (mostly images). Between the pages the window should resize and center.

When any link on the second page is clicked, I'd like to window to go to 100% height and 600 px width. The window placement does not matter.

    Any suggestions?

That's perfectly doable with JavaScript manipulation of the relevant DOM window properties - is there a specific problem you are encountering, or were you simply not sure if it could be done or not?

Don't do it. My PC, my browser, my browser settings. Sites like that really irritate me and rarely if ever get revisited or bookmarked. Stick it in a fixed width table on a normal page and leave it at that - much more user friendly.

I agree...I generally like to browse at 1024x768. When people use javascript to resize my browser, not only does it irritate me for that page, but it irritates me further because IE will open all future browser windows at that new size. If you really need a window at a specified size, use the window.open() function to create a new window at that particular size (I would much rather close an additional window than type a resizeTo() command in my address bar to get my browser back to the way I want it). That won't mess up my future browser windows.

    Hope that helps,

I'm completely new a JavaScript, so if anyone is willing to provide complete examples, I'd be appreciative.

From your posts, I agree that it is not in my sites best interest to use the resize command. I'll place the entrance in a table.

Can someone demostrate using the window.open() command to create a window that is X number of pixels wide with 100% height?

    Thanks much.

I think developer.irt.org have some good stuff.
I normally use the msdn.microsfot.com/library resource though.

Yes, I omitted my "avoid like the plague" warning on messing around with browser window sizes......!
