I'm rather new to HTML, and I'm having some trouble with tables. Thanks for those that replied to my previous post.

The problem I have now is using exact pixels vs. using percentages for my TD tags. The real problem comes up when I resize my windows. The layout looks fine if at the exact same size I created the page in, but if the window is shrunk down, everything is thrown off.

I would think that if the window is resized, then the only the portion of the page that could be visible would be shown, but instead things get squeezed together. I've only used exact pixels thus far. Would using percentages help?

    Thanks!

Vyasa, have you learned about the "1 by 1 pixel trick" yet. What you do is create a transparent gif which is 1 pixel in width and length. You can then resize it in your table using the width and height attributes.

And you won't see the graphic because it is transparent. Yet it will give you tremendous control over your tables. This is one of THE MOST IMPORTANT tricks in html. Its one you can't live without.

    Hello,

One thing that should be noted is that some people still use 640x480 screen res. so you should be aware of that.

A good rule to follow is to design your pages for the smallest screen(640x480 usually). This will eliminate most problems associated with diffenent screen sizes.

Hope this help and good luck in the future.

also, keep in mind how your frameset will show up in a 640x480 browser window.
