Is it true that search engines and directories does not accept WebPages because of :
1. Design of the page? And how does that affect?
2. Using Illegal characters such as “&”, “//”? If it true what are the illegal characters that I have to consider!
3. Speed of the website if its slow, and how can I know the speed of the website?

Would someone please tell me more what to consider before adding my website to search engines…

Hi Marwan,

1: We, as a directory, look more to the content of site. But if a design is really horrible, I will decline it anyway.
2: If you mean illegal characters in an url, we don't look at that. If a site works it's fine for me.
3: Only very slow (when it becomes annoying) sites are declined.

For searchengines (spiders) there are other rules, for directories it is the (unique!) content that counts.

Marwan, search engines and directories are completely different.

Directory entries are selected or at least approved by humans. They will look at your page to see that it fits within the category you have chosen, that it satisfies their requirements and that it is decent quality.

Search engine entries are indexed automatically. Some search engines have problems with URLS containing query strings. This means the URLs contain a question mark and zero or more & signs.

The speed of your site will have no effect but if it is very spammy it could be denied for other reasons.
