is there an alternative alternative way of passing on the session id?

i've turned off the session.use_trans_sid setting in order to stop php automatically propegating the sessid in the url, in the event of the browser being unable to accept cookies. i've done that because conveying information in an url makes your site search engine unfriendly. - if urls have info in them after a "?" then this disables search engines from indexing your site, in general.

(php propegates the sessid in the url even if the browser is set to accept cookies from the 1st page to the 2nd page - i guess because php doesn't know if the browser'll take cookies until the 2nd page, so it does that to cover itself)

does anyone know of a way to pass on the sessid from page to page, when the user isn't able to take cookies and without messing with the url?
