Search engine ranking based on domain name

    Hi!
Which search engines rank pages higher based on a domain name (top/country level domain name)?

    Thanks

FYI the term you're looking for is TLD or top level domain.

I've heard some rumors that people observe .edu TLDs being ranked higher on Google, but I don't put much weight in that claim.

Search engines pretty much give no preference to any TLD. .com will not rank higher than .net, its completely arbitrary. The only issue you may run into would be with country specific TLDs. Some search engines only allow sites with certain country specific TLDs, others may limit them based on your language preferences.

I'm not actually certain any SE giving preference to domain names. But I'm not sure if having the keyword in your domain helps, if only a little.
