Frames can't do that.
You'd have to use tables.

I would pretty much always (except in an extremely rare case) have to say tables.

for the thread starter, use tables. u dont want to use frames only to find out later about the numerous problems they offer...for free!.

well, for the kind of design you want. u should do it with Tables. you wont encounter much or any probs with them and will make ur work easier then to frames. but take care with nesting the tables..

As been said before, tables are the way to go, for the simple reasons that this can't be made with frames. The lay-out is too complex for that

Creole, don't do it! Life's too short to throw away on such a hideous frameset.

AFAIK it is not possible. Because the welkom message part doesn't span the entire width of the page, it is not possible to create the most right column -- the xtra menu one.

OK, I was cheerfully constructing *that* before I noticed scrollbars on ThaLikz's sketch and found the bottom half.
Still I daresay its possible using iFrames.

I hate to point out to you that accomplishing the task with IFRAMES would also require the use of TABLES. :-)
You can simply position and size the iframes with CSS.

ok ok...
I did see the sketch but I guess tha I missed the overlap on one of the edges. It could be done but ONE of the edges would have to extend to the full length (or width) of the side of the "square".
I'm wrong...my apologies.Adobe Certified Coldfusion MX 7 Developer

Anyway, ThaLIkz, I guess we all agree tables are the way to go.
