    When CSS pixel width is not x pixels according to Netscape...

    Why is CSS width 90px different in NN6 to IE6?
    I'm trying to build some CSS buttons. Above the buttons I have an image that is 90 pixels wide. I'm setting my buttons to 90px wide so that they line up. In IE they look fine. In NN6, 90px wide seems to turn into 100(ish)pixels?! Here's the code from my CSS, applied to the A tags which are in a DIV tag (which has it's own CSS style):

    PHP Code:
    A:ACTIVEA:LINKA:VISITED, .navbutton {

    display block;

    text-decoration none;

    background #009CFF;

    padding 4;

    border-style outset;

    border-width 1;

    width 90px;

    left 10px;

    position relative;

    top20px;

    margin-top 3px;

    color #63FFFF;

    letter-spacing .2em;

    font-size 9pt;

    font-family VerdanaGenevaArialHelveticasans-serif;

    Any thoughts?

    From what Ive been told Netscape renders pixels ever so slightly different than Explorer does. Netscape 96ppi and IE 72ppi.

    Maybe, however the CSS sample is lacking some importing units; I'd suggest giving "border-width: 1;" and "padding: 4;" some units, or how is the browser supposed to know what measurements you want for those two CSS properties.

    yup, it always boils down to the "box model" implementation differences between IE and NS...xhtmlcoder has a very valid point
    see the "padding and boxing" part of this seminal article http://www.alistapart.com/stories/journey/4.html
