MySql install problem

Doing the make on MqSql I encountered the following:
libmysql.c: in function 'mysql_real_connect':
libmysql.c:1325: warning: passing arg 5 of "gethostbyname_r'
from incompatible pointer type
libmysql.c:1325: to few arguments to function

libmysql.c:1325 warning: assignment makes pointer from
integer without a cast

I'm doing this install on a RH 6 do to funding in office and availability.

Any and all help appreciated.

I am the "any" help and a complete novice.

I did remember reading about hostname resolution problems
ref: http://www.mysql.com/doc/L/i/Linux.html
I believe if you have RH 6.2 you can use RPM which I think MySQL prefers for RH.

If this is of little or no help, hopefully it's bait for the
clever clogs on this site who I challenge to help you further.
