    A word on pronounciation

At last, a source which seems to clear this little puppy up nicely:

As for the pronunciation of the word, if you live in Finland, you would say "lee-nooks," because Linus is pronounced "lee-noose." Since the English pronunciation of Linus is "line-us," many call it "line-ucks." Also quite common is "lin-ucks," which is somewhere in between.

Well since Linus wanted it said "Line-us" i've been trying to say it this way - but the odd "lin-ux" comes in still - out of habbit.

We in Croatia pronounce it as "lee-nuks", and I think that's the proper way to pronounce it (I heard a sound file with Linus speaking the word...).

I pronounce it "lin-ucks" not "line-ucks" and always have. It would be a very hard habit to break.

I'm the exact same way. It'd be very hard to break my habit.

Because Linux was originally based on a small, PC-based implementation of UNIX called "Minix" (pronounced with a short i), the actual pronunciation of Linux preserves this characteristic, it's LIH-nucks.

And that's the way I say it.

However, the name "Linus" is Line-us

Either way, I'm sure Linus don't care how you say it, as long as you use it.

On a side note, hope everyone here knows by now gif is pronounce as "jif", not "gift"
