grid effect that looks like a gradient fill

Hi all,

I have seen graphics that has a grid effect on it, and fortunately i found few tutorials on how to make it. But what i wanted is, is to create a grid effect that looks like a gradient fill. Does anyone out there can tell me how to do this? or any suggeste links? tutorials? articles? tips? It would be greatly appreacited..

i don't exactly know what effect you're after, but there is a tut here on grids

If Forlorn is correct, then you would create that like this in Photoshop:

1) Create your grid on a new layer using the tut you found or plats one in his link.

2) Select that layer and then select the "Quick Mask" icon from the bottom of the layer palette.

3) Grab the gradient tool, select a black to white transition, and drag out, using the tool from left to right or which ever way you want your gradient to be.

Should give you that effect.

To platinum, hey, you got a great tutorial there - i didnt know i would be excited to try that also.. Glenplake...

You don't even need the Quick Mask. Simply lock the transparent pixels of the grid layer by pressing the "/" button. Then fill the layer with the gradient of your choice. Only the pixels of that layer that have a color already will be affected.
