That sounds unlikely. Windows won't run on a custom built processor it's never seen before (it won't even run on ARM processors), and OS X won't install on anything that doesn't identify as a certain kind of Apple device.

    Exclamation

That attempt of humor is akin to those directed toward the handicapped.

As for the device, it will be interesting to see where the market takes it.
It has definite potential for surfing, texting, music playing, messaging and
such, but it seems that Apple would have given it a bit more oomph. I was
expecting something essentially in between an iPod Touch and a low end
    iMac.

Before putting out money for one, I'm patient to wait to see what's going
to happen with it. Will it be enhanced with things like USB; a camera,
memory cards, a stylus for fine drawing/handwriting capability or left as it is.

Another point is that if the market doesn't take off, Apple will most likely
drop the prices in an effort to stimulate sales...so there's no real reason to
    hurry.

How is it even comparable to people with a handicap? I doubt any woman would say that their bodies prevent them from functioning at "that time of the month" (I can't wait to see the replies to this post ), it's not a debilitating condition.. it's just an inconvenience (at least from what I've heard - I'm no woman!).

I read it more that the iPad comparisons are about as hilarious as jokes about the disabled (which is to say: not at all)

I don't really see the point of making fun of the iPad anyway. It's just another piece of technology that will be of use to some people.

Having said I don't see the point of making fun... I must admit I had a good chuckle over Jennifer Farley's cheeky speculation on what's coming next from Apple. Worth a look!

I'm more interested now about the iPad than when it was all rumors because it's real now. I don’t plan on buying one initially, but I will definitely want to play with one. I think the iPad is going to be a useful gadget in a couple years once people find better ways and reasons to use this technology.

as a dedicated e-book reader the Kindle wins hands down. The thing with the iPad is that its much more than an e-book reader.

I can get a very decent laptop for $500, and I can use any OS on it. This is not an cheap gadget to throw money at for the sake of curiosity. Will be interesting how it does over time

I played with one in the store the other day and looked at some of my sites with it to see how they show up only one look a little off I think it is something with the width. Not sure I have to look at it closer in my spare time.

They are kind of cool, But who really needs the internet as they are walking around..? Put that crap away and enjoy the fresh air and the real world. lol
