    Too much to pay?

What do you guys/gals think? Is $180 too much to pay for an AMD Athlon XP 1800 chip and board??

    All depends...

on the board you're planning to use.

A buddy just built a system like you described using a Soyo Ultra Dragon board which I think was around $150 itself. So
I think $180 is a pretty fair price.

Where are you shopping for the parts? I think Newegg.com has decent pricing for parts and shipping.

Found it on eBay to tell you the truth...I checked out user comments and what not, no bad comments on the seller...maybe I'll take a look on newegg too, though.

Well, really depends on the board, cause the XP1800+ CPU is worth around 107 $ atm....so...if the board is worth more than 80 $...it would be a fine deal

I would do some price hunting on PriceWatch.com before making any final decisions.

I've never been any good at navigating through pricewatch...

Do I call the mobo/chip package a combo, or what?
