I know a little (very little) but not enough to traslate. I have a few friends who know it, so kind of picked up the odd word. "Kiddha"

Yes I am a Punjabi (from Lahore). Yes. I am a Chaudhry. I can understand punjabi very well but cannot speak it fluently - thanks to english medium schools and urdu-speaking friends.

EHP_Rupi --- what do you exactly mean by "Kiddha"?

And yes Punjabi is well-understand in most of the country may be because of it's almost close resemblance to distorted form of Urdu.

Punjabi movies and songs are equally popular as Urdu songs.

Yeah ... it's a different dialect. It changes with every 10 miles ... So I guess we should stick to basic-level punjabi.

A bit related to this topic, I'm searching for either a mp3 version, or the lyrics, (or even the video) of a parody song from the BBC show Goodness Gracious Me: "I'm a Punjabi Girl", which was a parody of "I'm a Barbie Girl".
This song was incredibly funny, like the rest of the show

Well - undoubtedly Punjabi is the best language to tell jokes and humor.

My parents speak punjabi and urdu with me and I reply in urdu. But for the past few weeks, I have also started to try to reply in punjabi too.

Shin Ma ... was it an Indian show or a Pakistani show or some mixed-kind-of-a-show?

It was actually an English show which featured Indian actors. The funny thing is that only one of them was actually from India So they also had a video with them discovering India !
    This show was excellent !

Designr, I may buy the video... only when I get a VHS or DVD player
