Maybe they will develop vertical drives that go to the side of your computer, and a new generation of ATX box models would make room for these.
I still find the needle idea so much more reliable and piracy proof than the poor beams of light in today's piratable devices !

Just thought of something...now we are going to have buy a whole new generation of cd players to accomodate this new format? Hmmmm

Why don't they switch to dvd already? Why would I buy a CD that I can't play on my computer or in my car? Rubbish

Didn't you read the article? You have to buy this new thing called a 'turntable'.

No doubt the US-made turntables will be overtaxed just so all the money goes in the hands of RIAA executives !

This is ridiculous. No one is going to buy anything that makes their life more complicated. If they made this stupid fisbees no one will buy them and no one will buy the hardware either.

The bottom line is anything that doesn't work on a computer should not even be considered. The line between computer and stereo is all but gone. Some CDs can't be played on high-tech stereo's and computers and you know what people do with them? They take them back to the store.

I have a question for you.

CDs are much cheaper to produce than tapes, why are CDs more expensive than tapes? Or why are they near the same price?

If they made the music cheaper I think they'd have less of a piracy problem.

And you know people don't mind supporting artists they like, thats why they pay $40 for a concert ticket. But people don't feel the need to support record labels which in many ways hurt music rather than help it.

Sure they can claim that they need money so that they can afford to invest in new bands, thats bull. First of all how often is it that you see a record label invest in a revolutionary new band with a new style of music? An investment that is honestly risky? Even a band with as mainstream a sound as Creed was passed over many times. It seems to me that record labels only go with truly safe bets.

Secondly, with publish on demand technology, there is no investment in printing 100,000 CDs or whatever. You can print them on demand when they are needed.

Oh and the bottom line is that as long as your little system has an analog output to hook up to speakers, and how would it not? then its possible to put it on your computer.

the last time they came out with a big uncrackable invention, it took the use of a felt pen or marker to go round this "lock"

Sure it is uncrackable for now...there should be some 14 yr old somewhere waiting to crack this disc.

whats to stop you plugging your speaker output on your stereo into your audio input on your pc? ummmm nothing
1 second crack no need for a new turntable drive in the computer or anything.

There is one thing that seriosly annoys me about music companies complaining about piracy, and it is companies such as Sony who are one of the largest distributors of music, Yet they also provide CD burners, MP3 players, MD players, ect ect doesnt it seem a bit ironic that they would make all this stuff and then complain about piracy?

I'm confused... how many people on this thread are actually being serious about how stupid this new technology is and how someone will definitely find a way around it?

IT'S SATIRE! IT ISN'T REALLY TRUE!

Chances are I'm missing the point here and everyone on this thread was joking about taking it seriously and now I look like an idiot, but it was really bugging me not knowing if people believed it or not...

I think we need a well-designed poll and a larger sample population to ever get a reliable number on that topic.

I'll admit that my anger at RIAA clouded my judgement and I thought it was real. Then this afternoon while reflecting on the topic I realized it was probably just a joke.
