This is a shot from two summers ago, of a Rose of Sharon (cold-hardy Hibiscus) that's growing along the side of my house.
Here's a shot i took of an orchid at an outdoor farmer's market in Reseda, CA, in July of 2007

I was inspired to join the forums when I saw all the wonderful photos in this showcase for flowers. This is my first post here.

Hello there,
This is one I took out on a wet walk. It made the soaking worthwhile.
Thanks to everyone for adding their wonderful shots! It's quite amazing to see the passion for flowers. I'll need to take more notice of them in future, as I think I've been neglectful![]()
Thanks for the flower photo forum; I esp. enjoyed the posts from Edman. Here is a photo from a small fine art fundraiser show in Los Gatos, CA. For for scenic and event photos from San Jose/Bay Area, please visit my website: nicepics.us
(I specified IMG bbcode, but why didn't image show up post preview-other people's photos show up inline!)

trumpman - it takes a few posts before linking privileges are added to a new account. This was put in place a long time ago as there was too much link-spam.
Anyway I approved your attachment. Very nice shot- and welcome to the forum.

The first was taken at the Princes Street Gardens in Edinburgh, Scotland. The second was taken at a shopping center in South Lake Tahoe, California.

This is one of a freesia taken last Spring. They should be due out again next month.

What an amazing display of creative photographic talent! Great work.
And I am very pleased to see so many 'lurkers' who have decided to post. It makes us proud you chose THIS thread for your initial submission.

Almond Blossom, taken yesterday. Welcome to Spring.

Looks good ornette.

Flowers always look more interesting when there's light shining through the petals. Makes them glow and look exciting.
And shooting from a low angle makes them look big and important.

Thanks Shaun. Against the light enlivens all flowers in my opinion.
In the above case, I had to shoot from below, because they were above me. However, they got the sun much better that way.
