I've recently spoke with someone who is interested in doing work with my site. I'd like to give him access to my cpanel, but I'd like to be safe and keep things secure.
Is there a way I can limit what he's able to access/change? The last thing I want is for something to get stolen.
If you have a reseller account then you can set them up with their own cPanel account. If not then there is no way to give them access to cPanel without giving them access to everything on your hosting.
Even if you just set them up with their own FTP account restricted to a particular folder they could still upload scripts that could access things outside the folder if they really wanted to. You ought to be able to trust them to not do that and so giving them FTP access to a specific folder is probably as close as you can get to restricting their access if you don't have a reseller account to set them up with their own cPanel.
