Would like more information about HTML e-mails

Hello,

I designed my first HTML e-mail newsletter in Outlook Express. I'm excited about getting to send it out, but I'm concerned, because I'm not sure how this e-mail will look on other e-mail clients.

I'd like appreciate the input of anyone who knows anything about this topic! What do you suggest? Are there any tricks to make sure the e-mail is as compatible as possible?

send it to all of your freinds and ask them to do a screen shot of it and send it to you, as it is no good them telling you it looks fine becuase they dont know what you want it to look like.

Also, What about people whu dont use html email clients?

For about 3 months now I've been planning on writing an article about sending HTML emails. I've been putting it off.

I may get to it within the next few weeks.

There's lots of things to know about html emails. You can have html only, multipart-alternative, or you can send a different version to different recipients.

No matter what, there will be a small percentage of people who cannot receive the html email at all. This includes, but is not limited to, the small fraction of AOL users that have AOL 5 and earlier, and people using text mode clients. There are ways of making it easier for these people to get a plain text version. There are even some specific things you can do for AOL recipients.

In fact, older versions of AOL use their own rich text format that doesn't accept all html tags. There are ways of using this to send them html email, without the bells and whistles.

For best compatibility make sure you don't include images as attachments. Some clients and some ISPs block emails with images as attachments.

Then again, the alternative (remotely linked images) means that users must have a valid http connection to view the images.

There is a lot you can do in html emails without any images.
