Is there any way to tell who hosts a site?

    Hi guys,

I am just wondering, is there any way to tell who hosts a particular site?

    Thanks in advance

Type the domain name of the site into this page and all will be revealed.

That site is selling domains and hosting and the tools they provide are primarily for that purpose rather than for finding out who is hosting a domain.

The link I posted earlier is far more useful for determining information about someone's domain that any lookup provided by someone trying to sell domains or hosting.

Try whois.sc/server_ip and you will find lots of detailed information about hosting provider.

The search isn't all that straightforward. Sometimes it's quite hard to find out the real provider. The IP whois often tells you the data center used, but there can be 1000 hosts that use the same data center. (e.g. Hostgator uses ThePlanet, and IP info could wrongly suggest that ThePlanet is the hosting provider).

A domain whois will reveal you that nameservers used, which are often an indication of who hosts the site. Sometimes they're not of any help though.

Sometimes, intodns.com can provide useful clues (SOA email address, real nameservers etc).

I think you know where you get services from. If everything ok why you are trying to get more information about the same company?

You can find out who hosts a website by going to who-hosts you'll have to search it as I can't post links yet.

Okay now that I can post links. Here's the site that you can use to find out who host a site. http://who-hosts.com/

It's accurate too because I looked up mine and it was exact.

I tried one of my sites hosted on a fully managed VPS. It says I'm hosting it myself. Not exactly accurate. Automated tools will always tell only half of the story.
